A Snapshot of Galatians; Dealing with Bondage Bible Study

Snapshots through Galatians.

Dealing with Bondage.

Intro.  The other objection that the Judaizers raise is the issue of sin; surely, they assert, that freedom from sin is a licence to sin.  Paul argues that the issue is not sin but freedom or slavery.

Gal.5: 13 – 15. Freedom or Slavery.

*         What are we called for?  What are we not to use this freedom for? How does love cover the whole law?  What does Paul say arguments in church causes?

*         Gal.5: 1.  What two positions are possible within the Church?  What is the ‘yoke of slavery’?

*         Col.2: 20 – 23.  What do you consider to be the ‘elementary principles of the world’? (Gal.4: 3 May help) What is wrong with this stuff?

*         Col.3: 1 – 3.  How do we avoid these traps of bondage?

Note.  Our freedom in Christ should release us from the do’s and don’ts of the world.  However we are to practise love in order to avoid arguments about unnecessary rules and regulations that become in themselves a form of bondage.

Gal.6: 1 – 5.  Self Assessment.

*         What is the context of these Scriptures?  Why is Paul encouraging  ‘self assessment’?   Who are we not to compare ourselves with?  What is the danger (Vrs.1b.)

*         Gal.6: 2.  What is  the law of Christ? (See John.13: 34 – 35.)

Note.  Always be aware that we are all subject to temptation and sin.  There for be non judgemental when a brother makes mistakes or sins.  Only one law is given for us to follow and that is the ‘law of Christ’.
