Sunday Morning 7th Feb. 2010.

Father is Light and  Love.

John.1: 1 – 5.

God is Light.

  • The idea of light is ‘revelation’ Jesus as the ‘light of the world’ allows us to see clearly who Father is.
  • Eph.5: 11 – 14. The same light of revelation, exposes the ‘unfruitful deeds of darkness’.
  • 1John.1: 5 - 7..God in Light..’ Speaks not only of revelation, but of invincibility.  There is absolutely no darkness in any part of Father– nor could there be.
  • It also tells us that He is absolute Truth, Life, and Righteousness with Him there is no contest.
  • Anyone who wants to live a life of secrecy and sin will need to hide from the Father 1Tim.6: 14 – 16
  • ‘...unapproachable Light...’ is what it says, it is unapproachable.
  • Paul in Acts.9: 1 – 9 sampled a touch of this unapproachable light (Veiled)

1John.4: 8 – 10.

‘....God is Love...’

  • There are three concepts involved. 1.  Father’s identity is Love. (Vrs.8) 2. His incarnation was an act of love. (Vrs.9) 3. He revealed His relationship with us.(Vrs.10)
  • John tells us that Love is something that Father is – not what He does.
  • Love is at the foundation of who Father is; He has never been anything else. John.17: 24.
  • The cross truly reveals this in an understanding way. 1.  He bore our sins in agony.  2.  He endured abuse and physical torture.  3. He allowe3d His creation to drive nails into His hands and feet. 4. He experienced separation from His Father.
  • In all this He cried out,  ‘...Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing...’
  • ‘...in this is love, not that we loved Him, but that He loved us and sent His son to be a propitiation for our sins...’
